Abai University recently hosted an international scientific roundtable titled "The History of the Golden Horde in School and Higher Education." Prominent domestic and international scholars, historians, and educators gathered to discuss a new framework for integrating the heritage of the Ulus of Jochi into the modern educational system, culminating in the adoption of a resolution aimed at reforming school textbooks and university curricula.

This international meeting sought to examine the fundamental role of the Golden Horde in the history of medieval Eurasia, particularly in the formation and development of Kazakh statehood, through the lens of contemporary scientific achievements. The event featured presentations by Yertay Sultan, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at Abai University, Abdullah Gündoğdu, Professor at Ankara University, Kanat Uskenbay, a renowned historian, Fakiya Shamshidenova, Associate Professor at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, as well as history teachers and doctoral candidates, who analyzed the historiography of the Ulus of Jochi and the methodological approaches to teaching it to the younger generation.

 A primary focus of the adopted resolution is the modernization of history education. Scholars and educators proposed a fundamental revision of the chapters covering the history of the Golden Horde in "History of Kazakhstan" and "World History" textbooks. Under the new concept, the Great Ulus is to be presented not merely as a militaristic expansionist state, but as an advanced medieval civilization with developed urban culture, thriving trade networks, sophisticated diplomacy, and unique legal institutions. To align the learning process with digital-era demands, the integration of interactive maps, 3D models of key historical sites, and educational animated materials was also proposed.

 Furthermore, significant steps will be taken to enrich higher education curricula. To foster a deeper understanding of historical processes across Eurasia, an initiative was launched to introduce a mandatory core course titled "The Golden Horde: State, Society, and Culture" in universities. Additionally, elective courses focusing on the historiography, source study, and archaeology of the Ulus of Jochi will be developed for undergraduate and postgraduate history programs. To enhance the skills of students and young researchers in working directly with medieval written sources, regular scientific and practical seminars are scheduled to be held.

 To coordinate these strategic initiatives and establish an international scientific and analytical hub, the Research Center for the Golden Horde Civilization and Eastern Manuscript Heritage will be established under the Faculty of History and Law at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. This center will support talented young scholars by involving them in archaeological expeditions, research projects in foreign archives, and academic mobility programs.

 Abai University will serve as the primary institution monitoring and coordinating the implementation of all these key initiatives. The final resolution of the roundtable will be submitted for review and practical implementation to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Education, and the National Academy of Education.
