UNIVERSITY GRADUATE’S TEAM BREAKS INTO THE TOP AT A GLOBAL COMPETITION

Another remarkable achievement of Kazakhstan’s education system on the international stage has been marked by a new victory. At the prestigious international FIRST LEGO League (FLL) INNOFest Championship held in Hong Kong, the Kazakh team Future Axions 218 won the 2nd Runner-Up award in the Invitational category. The team’s mentor is Abai University graduate Bakkeldi Karagol.

The global championship brought together 120 top teams from more than 30 countries and over 900 students. The best teams from around the world competed in the fields of education, robotics, and innovative technologies. As a result of the competition, two teams from Almaty achieved prize-winning results. One of them, Future Axions 218, demonstrated an outstanding performance in the Invitational category and secured a top award.

The members of Team №218 included students of the “Keleshek” School Rinat Zamanbek and Inkar Kaliaskar, as well as students of Lyceum №24 Medina Tursyn and Adiya Tursynbek. The team was guided by mentor Bakkeldi Karagol. This achievement highlights not only the students’ strong preparation but also the professional expertise of the educator who trained them for an international-level competition.

This year, team mentor Bakkeldi Begzhanovich earned a master’s degree at Abai University in the educational program “7M01509 – Digital Pedagogy”, implemented within the framework of a World Bank project. He successfully defended his master’s thesis at the Department of Informatics and Educational Informatization under the academic supervision of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Nurzhamal Oshanova. The research work received a high evaluation from the State Attestation Commission.

Currently, Bakkeldi Karagol serves as Deputy Director for Digital Education at School №218 “Keleshek” in Almaty. He actively introduces modern digital technologies into the educational process and contributes to the systematic development of students’ engineering thinking, programming skills, and robotics competencies.

The international success of the Future Axions 218 team demonstrates the mentor’s contribution to the advancement of robotics education and reflects his professional experience in the field of education. Under his guidance, students have gained valuable experience in engineering design, programming, and teamwork, enabling them to successfully showcase their abilities on the global stage.
