ASTANA AKIMAT ALLOCATES 108 EDUCATIONAL GRANTS TO ABAI UNIVERSITY
The Akimat of Astana has allocated 108 educational grants to Abai University for the 2026–2027 academic year. These grants are funded from the local budget and are aimed at training specialists required by the capital’s educational institutions.
Within the framework of this initiative, specialists will be trained in pedagogical fields and information technology. This initiative is intended to strengthen the human resource capacity of the education system and improve the quality of training for future professionals. Applicants from all regions of Kazakhstan are eligible to participate in the competition for the Akimat grants. To apply, candidates must score at least 75 points on the Unified National Testing (UNT). Selection will be carried out on a competitive basis across educational programs.
The majority of the grants are allocated for training preschool and primary education teachers, as well as teachers of mathematics, physics, and informatics, special education specialists, and IT professionals. These fields are among the most in demand in the capital’s education system.
Specifically, by educational programs:
• 6B01204 – Preschool Education (IP) – 60 grants;
• 6B01308 – Primary Education (IP) – 10 grants;
• 6B01507 – Informatics (IP) – 5 grants;
• 6B01501 – Mathematics (IP) – 5 grants;
• 6B01504 – Physics (IP) – 5 grants;
• 6B019 – Special Education: Defectologist – 10 grants, Typhlopedagogy – 5
grants, Surdopedagogy – 3 grants;
• 6B06102 – Information Systems and Artificial Intelligence – 5 grants.
During the selection process, UNT results, academic performance, and additional achievements will be taken into account. In the event of equal scores, preference will be given to holders of the “Altyn Belgi” award, winners of national and international Olympiads and academic competitions, volunteers, recipients of various medals, and applicants with a high GPA. In addition, special quotas are provided for socially vulnerable groups in accordance with current legislation.
The aрplication process will begin after the announcement of the state educational grant results. Applications will be accepted in August, with exact dates to be announced by the Admissions Office of Abai University.
A key feature of the Akimat grant is the obligation for graduates to work in Astana in their field of study for at least three years after graduation. This requirement is formalized through a tripartite agreement between the applicant, the university, and the Astana Department of Education
Grant recipients will receive the same social support as recipients of state educational grants. They will be provided with free education and a stipend throughout their studies. In case of non-compliance with the contract terms, repayment of budget funds will be required in accordance with the law. Studies will take place at the Abai University academic building located at: 8/1 Ushkystar Street, Astana.
