Associate Professor Gulzhaina K. Kassymova Delivers International Lecture Series at Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, Indonesia

Singaraja, Bali, Indonesia (22–24 June 2026) – Associate Professor Gulzhaina K. Kassymova, PhD, of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, completed an international academic visit to Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha), Indonesia, as a Guest Lecturer within the framework of the International Lecture Mobility Inbound 2026 program.

The three-day academic mobility program was organized by the Department of Informatics Education of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha and coordinated by Dr. phil. Dessy Seri Wahyuni, S.Kom., M.Eng. The initiative aimed to strengthen international academic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Indonesia while contributing to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.

During the opening day, Associate Professor Kassymova delivered a university-wide General Lecture entitled "Modern Evaluation and Assessment in the New Education Era with AI." The lecture brought together faculty members, researchers, and students to discuss contemporary developments in educational assessment and the transformative role of artificial intelligence in higher education. The presentation focused on the principles of assessment literacy, emphasizing that assessment drives learning and that modern educators should be equipped to design valid assessment tasks, develop effective scoring rubrics, and construct high-quality test items. Particular attention was given to the opportunities created by artificial intelligence for personalized learning, real-time learning analytics, automated feedback, and expanded access to global educational resources. Associate Professor Kassymova also highlighted the importance of maintaining a balanced human–AI partnership in education. While AI can effectively support educators by generating draft assessment materials and providing instant feedback, professional judgment, ethical responsibility, fairness, and academic integrity must remain under the control of teachers and educational experts.

The second day of the program was dedicated to Joint Teaching sessions with faculty members of the Informatics Education Study Program. Together with Dr. P. Wayan Arta Suyasa, S.Pd., M.Pd., Associate Professor Kassymova taught the course Assessment and Evaluation in Informatics Learning, where discussions focused on inclusive assessment, adaptive testing, technology-enhanced assessment, and testing accommodations designed to ensure equitable educational opportunities for all learners. Later, in collaboration with Dr. Nyoman Indhi Wiradika, she conducted a second joint teaching session for the course Methodic and Didactic Informatics Learning. Students explored innovative assessment formats used in modern computer-based testing systems, including interactive simulations, drag-and-drop activities, hotspot items, sorting tasks, and digital portfolios. The session emphasized authentic assessment approaches that measure higher-order thinking skills beyond traditional testing methods.

On the final day, Associate Professor Kassymova participated in an academic seminar, research-sharing sessions, and thesis consultations with undergraduate students and academic staff of the Informatics Education Department. The discussions introduced internationally recognized educational assessment frameworks, including TIMSS and PIRLS, with particular attention to their cognitive domains of Knowing, Applying, and Reasoning. The seminar also examined current challenges associated with integrating artificial intelligence into education. Topics included academic integrity, plagiarism prevention, algorithmic bias, student data privacy, AI hallucinations, and the importance of preventing excessive dependence on AI technologies while preserving students' critical thinking and independent learning skills.

The International Lecture Mobility Inbound 2026 program demonstrated the growing partnership between Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University and Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, creating new opportunities for collaborative teaching, research, and academic exchange. Through the sharing of international expertise in educational measurement, assessment, and artificial intelligence, Associate Professor Gulzhaina K. Kassymova contributed to enhancing global dialogue on the future of education and strengthening academic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Indonesia. Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University continues to expand its international engagement by actively participating in global academic initiatives that promote innovation in teaching, educational research, and sustainable development in higher education.
