ABAI UNIVERSITY ALUMNI REUNITE AFTER 30 YEARS

Abai University hosted a reunion of graduates who completed their studies at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics in 1996. Returning to their alma mater three decades later, the alumni reminisced about their student years, cherished memories, and the formative experiences that shaped their professional and personal lives.

As part of the anniversary reunion, the graduates expressed their appreciation for their alma mater by joining the Abai University Alumni Association and supporting the Abai Endowment Fund.

Thirty years after graduation, these alumni have become accomplished professionals in science, education, public administration, and business. Among them are Candidates of Pedagogical Sciences, professors, distinguished scholars, university lecturers, dedicated school teachers and principals educating future generations across Kazakhstan, civil servants—including the Akim of the Shanak Rural District—as well as successful entrepreneurs.

The reunion was attended by the graduates' former professors, including Maktagali Bektemisov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and Professor; Serik Tezekeyev, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Physics and the graduates' former academic advisor; Nurmakhan Talpakov, Chief Specialist of the Department of Career Guidance and Career Development, who also taught the graduates; and Bolatbek Nurbatyrov, Head of the Alumni Association.

During the event, the professors shared heartfelt remarks and fond memories of their years with the graduates. They expressed great pride in seeing their former students excel in diverse fields and make meaningful contributions to the country's development.

In his address, Bolatbek Nurbatyrov emphasized the Alumni Association's role in strengthening cooperation between the University and its graduates. He also presented membership certificates to the Association's new members and introduced its key initiatives and upcoming projects.

Speaking on behalf of the alumni, Kambar Bedelov, PhD, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Informatics and Educational Informatization, expressed sincere gratitude to the professors. As a sign of deep respect and appreciation, the alumni honored their teachers by presenting them with traditional Kazakh chapans.

– What brought us together today is our shared respect and affection for Abai University. The knowledge we gained here and the guidance of our professors became the foundation of our lives and careers. Gratitude to one's teachers is a lifelong value. Today's tribute reflects the heartfelt appreciation of all our classmates. We sincerely wish our alma mater continued success and even greater achievements, – said Kambar Bedelov.

The gathering also featured remarks by Gulzada Baiymbetova, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor, and Director of the Department of Innovation Development and Research Personnel Training at Abai University. She shared her memories of student life and reflected on the University's lasting impact on her professional journey.

– For us, the University is much more than a place where we received our education – it is where we grew as individuals. The knowledge we acquired here and the wisdom of our professors have always guided us throughout our lives. I consider it a great honor and responsibility to work at the very university from which I graduated. Today's reunion not only brings back wonderful memories but also opens new opportunities to strengthen the partnership between the University and its alumni. I hope such meaningful gatherings become a lasting tradition and that our connection with our alma mater continues to grow stronger, – said Gulzada Baiymbetova.

The reunion concluded with a commemorative group photograph, after which the alumni learned about the University's recent achievements and ongoing development.

The anniversary reunion became a vivid reflection of the enduring bond between Abai University and its alumni, built on mutual respect, shared values, and lasting partnership.
