THE FACULTY OF NATURAL SCIENCES AND GEOGRAPHY CELEBRATES ITS GRADUATES
This academic year, 699 young specialists graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography at Abai University. Among them, 553 bachelor's degree graduates and 146 masters of science received their hard-earned diplomas. The solemn graduation ceremony dedicated to launching these graduates into their professional journeys was held at the highest level.
This significant milestone, marking the flight toward new horizons for nearly 700 young people, was filled with immense joy and pride. The grand event, which brought together the university leadership, faculty members, parents, and the graduates themselves, turned into a festive marathon consisting of several sessions. Following a well-established tradition, the ceremony commenced with a video congratulation from Sayasat Nurbek, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
– In recent years, support for science in Kazakhstan has significantly strengthened. Our new Constitution has designated education, science, human capital, and innovation as key priority areas for the Republic of Kazakhstan. However, the most important thing is how you will utilize these opportunities, – the Minister noted, extending his best wishes to the young graduates.
In his turn, Bolat Tlep, Chairman of the Board – Rector of the University, also shared his warm wishes with the graduates:
– The great Abai said: "Walk slowly but firmly, and your labor will not be in vain." Your achievements today are the fruit of your relentless dedication and hard work throughout your studies. Wherever you go, never let the light of knowledge fade away! – he emphasized.
Due to the large number of attendees, the diploma presentation ceremony was organized in several sessions. During these emotional moments on stage, the university vice-rectors wished the graduates a successful journey and shared inspiring words. In their speeches, they highlighted that graduating from the country's first university and holding its diploma is a matter of great pride. They emphasized that this document is not only a symbol of professional qualification but also a token of immense public trust in strengthening the nation's scientific potential.
During the ceremony, special recognition was first given to the top graduates — the pride of the faculty. Afterwards, the celebratory atmosphere on stage continued seamlessly across the sessions, as the university's distinguished professors and faculty members personally shook hands with each graduate, presenting them with their diplomas along with heartfelt wishes.
This memorable day once again revived the deep history of the faculty. Founded in 1928 alongside the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, it became an independent faculty in 1936. In the 1955/1956 academic year, it merged into the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography, and its modern structure was finalized in 2014.
Today, the faculty successfully operates the departments of "Chemistry", "Biology", and "Geography and Ecology". Specialist training is conducted across all modes of study, and the faculty's educational programs traditionally hold top positions in national rankings.
For the young specialists, this day serves as a major milestone, opening doors to leading research institutes, environmental agencies, industrial companies, and the education sector. Many bachelor's graduates plan to choose the path of science and continue their education in master's programs to enhance the intellectual potential of the country.
