FIRST COHORT OF THE FACULTY OF WORLD LANGUAGES GRADUATES

Today, Abai University hosted the commencement ceremony for the inaugural cohort of the Faculty of World Languages. Stepping into a new chapter of their lives, 427 graduates officially became certified specialists, including 382 Bachelor's and 45 Master's degree holders, with 158 individuals graduating with honors (red diplomas). Organised for the first time by the university’s youngest faculty, this celebratory event marks a major milestone in the history of the institution.

The ceremony commenced with a video congratulation from Sayasat Nurbek, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Korea. In his speech, he congratulated the young specialists on this significant milestone and shared insightful guidance for their future professional journeys. "The diploma in your hands is not merely a sign that you have reached the finish line; it is the beginning of a new milestone. The life ahead will demand continuous exploration, learning new skills, and unlearning and relearning when necessary. Life should be embraced not as a sprint, but as a long-term marathon. Knowledge is an opportunity. Knowledge is power. At the same time, it carries immense responsibility. Keep serving your country," the Minister stated.

Bolat Tlep, the Chairman of the Board–Rector of Abai University, also extended his congratulations to the graduates and their parents via a video address. "Within the walls of this sacred alma mater, you have not only acquired knowledge but also evolved into well-rounded citizens and mature individuals. Abai University has provided you with more than just a profession; it has instilled a lifelong philosophy, spiritual values, and a sense of responsibility. Serve your nation well and become citizens who fulfill the expectations of your parents and mentors," the Rector expressed.

The warm wishes were further echoed by Aigul Iskakova, the Vice-Rector for Strategy and Internationalization. She highlighted the students' dedication and accomplishments throughout their academic years, noting that each graduate contributed significantly to the university's high institutional rankings. During the gala evening, the faculty's professors and distinguished educators presented the diplomas, offering heartfelt wishes and wishing the young specialists the best of luck in their future professional endeavors.

Although the Faculty of World Languages is a newly established and the youngest academic division within the university, it possesses a deep historical foundation. The Department of Foreign Languages, founded back in 1928, has trained thousands of qualified professionals over the decades, eventually evolving into an independent faculty. In this historic first graduation, young specialists received their diplomas in the fields of "Foreign Language Teacher Training" and "Translation and Interpretation."
