ADMISSIONS CAMPAIGN FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS LAUNCHED AT ABAI UNIVERSITY

Today, Abai University officially launched its admissions campaign for the 2026–2027 academic year. The Admissions Office of one of Kazakhstan’s leading pedagogical universities has begun its work for this year’s school graduates. The opening ceremony was attended by Ruslan Yemelbayev, Adviser to the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the university’s leadership, staff, and prospective students.

Starting from June 20, universities across all regions of Kazakhstan begin accepting applications. This year, more than 215,000 students are graduating from secondary schools nationwide, while over 240,000 applicants are taking the Unified National Testing (UNT). Ruslan Yemelbayev, Adviser to the Minister of Science and Higher Education, attended the opening of the Admissions Office of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University and wished the university a successful admissions campaign.

“Today, admissions offices at higher education institutions across the country have officially started their work. This is an important stage for applicants who have chosen their future profession and achieved the required admission score. In addition, applicants who plan to take creative entrance examinations may begin submitting their documents to universities starting today. Applications for participation in the state educational grant competition will be accepted from July 13 to July 20.

This year, Abai University has introduced an effective new mechanism — a Consultation Center. It helps applicants determine their educational and career pathways, choose the right academic program, and accurately identify the four higher education institutions to be indicated in their state grant application. Only after receiving consultation do applicants submit their documents to a technical secretary. I believe that such an admissions process will be beneficial for both applicants and their parents,” said the Minister’s Adviser.

During the event, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Banu Narbekova introduced the university’s educational programs. She noted that the university offers a wide range of 157 educational programs, including 60 bachelor’s programs, 58 master’s programs, 39 doctoral programs, and 8 educational programs implemented at the Lorraine Branch. Speaking at the opening ceremony, she emphasized the consistently high level of interest among applicants in teacher education programs.

“According to the results of last year’s admissions campaign, 23,555 applicants selected Abai University. The university was allocated nearly 5,000 state educational grants, and 8,053 students were admitted. Among those who chose Abai University were 768 recipients of the Altyn Belgi award and 997 graduates with honors certificates. This is clear evidence of the high level of trust in our university and the quality of education we provide,” said the Vice-Rector.

During the event, Vice-Rector for Social Development Maksat Zhakauov highlighted that applicants often have both academic and social concerns during the admissions period. He noted that consultations are available regarding tuition fees, social support measures, and accommodation in student dormitories.

It should be noted that the Admissions Office of Abai University is located at 30 Kazybek Bi Street, Almaty. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Registration for creative entrance examinations will be conducted from June 20 to July 6, while the examinations themselves will take place from July 7 to July 12. Applications for participation in the state educational grant competition will be accepted from July 13 to July 20.
