CHEMISTRY ALUMNI REUNION HELD AT ABAI UNIVERSITY

Today, Abai University hosted a reunion of graduates of the Chemistry program from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography. Alumni who graduated from the university in 1986 gathered to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their graduation. Returning with nostalgia to Almaty—the city of their youth—and to the university where they received their higher education, they reminisced about the brightest moments of their student years. The guests also learned about the university’s current achievements and expressed their best wishes for its continued growth and prosperity.

Back in the 1980s, they arrived in the nation’s capital from various regions of the country and took their first steps into the then Kazakh State Pedagogical Institute named after Abai. At one of Kazakhstan’s leading educational and scientific institutions, they attended lectures delivered by distinguished professors and scholars, acquired laboratory skills, and graduated as highly qualified specialists. Upon completing their studies, they received job placements in different regions of the republic and began their professional careers. Over the past forty years, many have become experienced educators, respected scientists, and accomplished professionals in industry and public service. Having experienced both the joys and challenges of life, they returned today to their alma mater to relive cherished memories of their youth and reunite with old friends.

During the anniversary gathering, Bolatbek Nurbatyrov, Head of the Alumni Association, addressed the participants and congratulated them on this memorable occasion.

“Dear alumni, I am delighted to welcome you to Abai University. Today, each of you is making a valuable contribution to the development of our society through your successful work in various fields across the country. Your achievements are also a source of pride for our university. Meetings like this strengthen the bonds among alumni and help maintain a lasting connection with our alma mater,” said Bolatbek Nurbatyrov.

As part of the event, alumni who attended the reunion were officially admitted to the Alumni Association and were ceremonially presented with membership certificates.

Participants were also introduced to the activities and future goals of the Abai Endowment Fund. The Fund’s initiatives aimed at strengthening the university’s material and technical resources, supporting talented students, and advancing scientific research projects were presented. The alumni expressed their willingness to support the Endowment Fund and contribute to its initiatives.

During the reunion, the chemistry graduates shared memories of their student years, recalled their teachers, and visited the classrooms where they once studied. Participants reflected on memorable moments from university life, scientific pursuits, and the warm days filled with friendship and inspiration. The gathering was marked by heartfelt conversations and left everyone with lasting positive impressions.
