UNIVERSITY REPRESENTATIVE PARTICIPATED IN THE UNESCO AND ISESCO COMMISSION MEETING

Last week, a regular meeting of the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO was held. The meeting was attended by State Counselor Erlan Karin, ministers and vice ministers, experts from international organizations, as well as representatives of the science and education sector. The meeting was attended by a representative of Abai University – Head of the UNESCO Chair, Professor Aiman Berikkhanova.


The meeting was chaired by State Counselor Erlan Karin with the participation of heads of national institutions and professional communities. In his speech, he noted that the Head of State attaches special importance to these projects. As a result, Kazakhstan’s role in the global cultural and humanitarian space is strengthening, and systematic efforts are being implemented to preserve and promote historical heritage.


– Thanks to the support of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, cooperation between Kazakhstan and UNESCO and ISESCO has significantly strengthened in recent years. On this basis, sites proposed by Kazakhstan are being included in the World Heritage List, and international initiatives in the cultural and humanitarian sphere are receiving consistent support, – said Erlan Karin.


During the discussion, Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Education Zhuldyz Suleimenova, as well as several vice ministers exchanged views on key issues related to cultural heritage and sustainable development. Mechanisms for developing cooperation between Kazakhstan and UNESCO and ISESCO, promoting new ideas, and strengthening global partnerships were comprehensively discussed. The agenda included issues of preserving cultural and natural heritage, developing educational outreach, global geoparks, bioethics, and expanding cooperation.


The participation of the UNESCO Chair of Abai University in these processes is not limited to engagement in international dialogue. The university demonstrates its commitment to adapting global educational and scientific initiatives at the national level and implementing them through concrete academic and research projects. The proposals developed during the commission meeting will serve as a basis for updating educational programs, refining research directions, and systematically developing international cooperation.
