ZHASYN DANCE ENSEMBLE WINS GRAND PRIX AT INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

The Zhasyn Dance Ensemble, comprised of students from Abai University, achieved outstanding success at the FREEDOM International Choreographic Festival held in Almaty, where it was awarded the Grand Prix.

The international competition, aimed at promoting the development of choreographic art, enhancing participants’ performance skills, and improving the artistic quality of dance repertoire, brought together talented performers from Kazakhstan and abroad. A total of 74 creative ensembles from different regions of Kazakhstan and foreign countries competed in the festival.

At this prestigious event, the Zhasyn Dance Ensemble distinguished itself through its professional excellence, strong stage presence, and unique approach to promoting Kazakhstan’s national dance heritage. The ensemble presented a choreographic composition based on “Balqadisha,” one of the most celebrated songs by the renowned Kazakh composer and singer Aqan Seri Qoramsauly. The performance successfully combined national spirit with artistic aesthetics, standing out for its compositional integrity, precise dance technique, and expressive stage interpretation.

As a result, the ensemble not only won the admiration of the audience but also received the highest score from the jury. Following the competition, the Zhasyn Dance Ensemble was awarded the Grand Prix and received a cash prize of 500,000 tenge to support its further creative development.

It is worth noting that this achievement marks yet another success for the ensemble this year. Earlier, in May, the group won First Place at the TUMAR Art Fest, a creative arts competition for children and youth, once again demonstrating its high level of preparation and artistic excellence.

This accomplishment is the result of the ensemble members’ dedication, perseverance, and continuous creative pursuit. It also reflects the professional guidance and commitment of the ensemble’s artistic director, Almat Kumarzhanov, Acting Associate Professor at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University.
