ABAI UNIVERSITY BECOMES THE EDUCATIONAL HUB OF CENTRAL ASIA
The large-scale International Symposium titled "New Architecture of Education for a Sustainable Future: Global Challenges, Innovations, and New Opportunities," hosted by Abai University, has successfully concluded. The two-day event focused on deepening interstate academic dialogue and enhancing the quality of the pedagogical education system.
Leading experts and university representatives from Central Asian countries and the People's Republic of China, alongside officials from international organizations, gathered at Abai KazNPU. The experts discussed the most pressing topics in modern pedagogy, including the potential of artificial intelligence and the integration of intelligent pedagogy into the educational process. During the sessions, scholars presented machine learning methods designed to develop Kazakh-language digital content, new AI tools that optimize educators' time, and the role of digital adaptive systems in training future specialists.
Amir Piric, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty, emphasized the profound significance of the symposium's agenda, noting that each of these focus areas holds strategic importance in addressing global challenges and shaping a sustainable future. According to him, transforming education, harnessing the capabilities of artificial intelligence, and advancing social-emotional and climate education form the essential foundation for building a modern educational ecosystem.
Furthermore, the international expert community paid special attention to improving the social-emotional well-being of learners and creating a safe psychological environment in modern schools. The sessions introduced the gamification of the educational process, emotional self-regulation techniques for educators, and effective EQ-technologies to combat bullying and cyberbullying. In the climate education and sustainable development section, the integration of STEM and STEAM technologies into environmental education was explored based on leading international practices. Interstate measures implemented to tackle global climate change and the role of climate maps in contemporary education were also thoroughly analyzed.
The international symposium, which held its plenary session at Abai University, brought together representatives from Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. The event was attended by leaders and prominent experts from the country’s top higher education institutions and educational centers, including Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Ablai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages, M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University, Ozbekali Janibekov South Kazakhstan Pedagogical University, Akhmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University, Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, Astana International University, the Y. Altynsarin National Academy of Education, and other leading educational organizations of the republic. The sectional sessions of the symposium continued at the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University.
As a result of the symposium, Abai University, Shanghai Normal University, and the Teacher Education Centre under the auspices of UNESCO signed memoranda of cooperation. Through this symposium, international experts affirmed the historical role of Abai University, the nation's pedagogical leader, as the Central Asian educational hub for sustainable development.
