FIELD PRACTICE IS TAKING PLACE AT THE AGROBIOSTATION

Since mid-May, first-year students of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography have begun their educational field practice at the Agrobiostation base. This is a special and memorable period filled with valuable experiences for future biologists.

The field practice will continue from May 20 to June 5. During this period, students will take part in research activities and practical studies in a natural environment. Practice organized in nature allows students to combine theoretical knowledge with real research experience. Around 250 students of Abai University are observing the plant and animal world and developing scientific research skills during the practice.

One group of students is collecting plants, mastering herbarium preparation methods, and studying their morphological characteristics. By examining leaf and root structures, they gain their first experience working with natural materials. Another group has already started observing invertebrates and various insects, as well as collecting scientific specimens.

Students are especially interested in the work carried out on the experimental crop fields. They analyze the growth stages of garden and grain crops and study natural processes such as germination, flowering, and heading. In addition, they participate in agrotechnical activities and become familiar with field research methods.

At the opening ceremony of the field practice, Faculty Dean Küläsh Düisenbaikyzy wished the young researchers success and emphasized the importance of working closely with nature for future professionals. Head of the Department of Biology, PhD Äsiya Düisengaliqyzy, and Associate Professor Quandyq Lebekuly explained safety regulations and work procedures during the practice.

From the very first day, students demonstrated active participation by keeping research journals and systematically working with natural objects. Outdoor classes and field observations further increased their interest in science.

It should be noted that last year the university’s “Agrobiostation” educational and training base was opened in Zhanashar village, Enbekshikazakh district, Almaty region. In addition to laboratories, dormitories, a cafeteria, and recreation areas were built there, creating favorable conditions for developing students’ practical skills.
