ACADEMIC MOBILITY SELECTION PROCESS CONCLUDED

Abai University recently hosted the selection committee meeting to evaluate candidates wishing to study abroad under the Academic Mobility Program for the 2026–2027 academic year. A total of 110 applicants competed for 36 grants funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Among these, 34 grants offer placement at European universities, while two are designated for partner institutions in Southeast Asia.

An independent 15-member committee was established to conduct a comprehensive review of the applications, assessing students' academic readiness, motivation, and language proficiency. In addition to the university administration and faculty, the panel included prominent public figures and independent experts: Zuhra Qamar, an international expert from Canada; Elena Tyo, a deputy of the Almaty City Maslikhat; Sagyngali Yelkeyev, President of the Kazakh Association "Ten-Tenimen"; and Saule Zeinolla, CEO of "Teacher Lab". To ensure an accurate assessment of the students' language skills, language specialists Natalia Nam (Korean), Chingis Ordabaev (English), and Svetlana Bukhina (French) were also invited to assist the committee.

Bolat Tlep, Chairman of the Board and Rector of Abai KazNPU, emphasized that the university prioritizes the development of international partnerships. Today, the university maintains close ties with top-tier global institutions ranked in the QS World University Rankings across France, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Poland, and South Korea. This student selection process stands as a tangible outcome of this extensive international cooperation.

To ensure maximum fairness and objectivity, the committee implemented a blind interview format. Under this system, applicants' names and other personal details were kept strictly confidential. The committee only reviewed the students' GPA and language proficiency certificates. During the online interviews, candidates spoke in Kazakh, Russian, English, French, or Korean, depending on their chosen tracks. The students successfully demonstrated genuine enthusiasm for their professional development and answered the committee's questions comprehensively. The final selection results will be announced in a week.
