CHEMISTRY TEACHERS’ COMPETENCIES DISCUSSED
Today, Abai University hosted a scientific and methodological roundtable titled “Effective Ways to Improve the Research Competencies of Chemistry Teachers,” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Aimankul Meirmanova. The meaningful gathering was aimed at honoring the work of an educator who successfully combined science and education, as well as discussing current issues in the field of chemistry.
The event focused on developing the research skills of chemistry teachers, introducing modern methods into pedagogical practice, and improving professional qualifications. University lecturers, industry experts, representatives of educational institutions, and young scientists took part in the event.
The roundtable was moderated by Head of the Department of Chemistry Zhazira Mukatayeva, who especially highlighted the scientific and teaching achievements of the юбilee. Advisor to the Rector, Professor Khairulla Nyshanuly, opened the meeting and presented Aimankul Aitzhanovna with the special “Abai” badge.
– As the saying
goes, ‘A teacher without students is incomplete.’ Today, Aimankul Aitzhanovna’s
students are winning top prizes at national olympiads. During difficult periods
for our country, she guided talented students toward science and led them to
great achievements. Having worked continuously for more than 35 years at the
Department of Chemistry of Abai University, the teacher has made a significant
contribution to the development of the institution, – the professor noted.
During the roundtable, Aimankul Aitzhanovna’s many years of service in science and education were widely discussed. The scholar’s professional activity has been aimed at improving chemistry teaching methods and preparing gifted school and university students for olympiads. For many years, she has served as a jury member at national and international chemistry olympiads.
During the event, representatives of the Almaty Region Department of Education and specialists from methodological centers exchanged views on improving the quality of education in the region and shared experiences. In the scientific presentations section, participants discussed the development of students’ research abilities and the enhancement of teachers’ competencies in preparing scientific publications. Speakers proposed effective ways to organize modern pedagogical approaches and practical research activities.
During the sectional sessions, participants discussed the organization of olympiad training in chemistry and new mechanisms for working with gifted students. Special attention was also paid to developing students’ practical skills through laboratory experiments. At the end of the meeting, participants exchanged experiences and presented proposals on current issues in education and science.
Aimankul Aitzhanovna is a Candidate of Chemical Sciences, a highly
qualified educator, and a corresponding member of the International Academy of
Ecology and Life Safety Sciences of the Russian Federation. She defended her
candidate dissertation in the field of electrochemistry. Since 1992, she has
been working at the Department of Chemistry of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical
University. The scholar is the author of more than 250 scientific and
methodological works, textbooks, and teaching aids. Her dedicated service to
science and education undoubtedly serves as an example for the younger
generation.
