“Zhasyn” Dance Ensemble of Abai University Becomes a Laureate of a Republican Competition

   The “Zhasyn” dance ensemble, composed of students of Abai University, delivered an outstanding performance at the republican “Zhuldyz Biі” competition held as part of the Kazakh Dance Festival in the city of Esik and was awarded the title of laureate. During the competition, the collective clearly demonstrated its professional mastery and its distinctive approach to promoting national dance art, reaching a high artistic level.

A total of 21 dancers participated in the contest, presenting choreographic performances set to Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly’s kyuy “Kyzyl Kain,” Akan Seri Kormasuly’s song “Balkadisha,” and Abdimomin Zheldibayev’s kyuy “Kurbilar.” Each performance stood out for its compositional integrity, stage culture, and harmonious execution, earning great appreciation from the audience.

In addition, each number of the ensemble received high praise from the jury for successfully combining national identity with modern stage solutions. According to the results of the competition, the dance set to “Balkadisha” was awarded the Grand Prix, the performance based on the kyuy “Kyzyl Kain” took 1st place, and the duet dance inspired by “Kurbilar” was also awarded 1st place.

This achievement is the result of the collective’s persistent hard work and creative exploration. A significant contribution to this success was also made by the ensemble’s artistic director, Acting Associate Professor of Abai KazNPU, Almat Kumarganov.

It should be noted that the “Zhasyn” dance ensemble has previously actively participated in republican and international cultural events. In particular, two years ago, the ensemble performed in Navoi, Republic of Uzbekistan, at a commemorative event dedicated to the 380th anniversary of Aiteke bi, successfully promoting Kazakh dance art on the international stage.

This year, the ensemble has been joined by first-year students, bringing fresh energy and further enhancing its creative potential.
