A CEREMONIAL PARADE DEDICATED TO DEFENDER OF THE FATHERLAND DAY WAS HELD
At
Abai University, a large-scale military-patriotic parade was organized in honor
of May 7 – Defender of the Fatherland Day. The significant event was attended
by the university leadership, representatives of the Officers’ Union, and
veterans of the Afghan war, who witnessed an important initiative aimed at
strengthening the patriotic spirit of the younger generation. The program was
not limited to festive activities and continued with a relay that assessed the
professional competencies of future defense leaders and educators.
The
parade program consisted of four sections. These included a ceremonial military
formation, demonstrations of applied sports skills, an exhibition of modern
weapons and equipment, as well as intense tactical competitions among students.
It is worth noting that this year Defender of the Fatherland Day coincided with
a significant achievement for Abai University. On April 16–17, at the 17th
Republican Olympiad on the methodology of teaching initial military training
held in Taraz, our students took 3rd place among 13 teams, demonstrating the
university’s high level of preparation.
The
military-patriotic parade featured the Almaty City Police Department, the
Department of Emergency Situations, the Border Academy of the National Security
Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Special Purpose Directorate of
the Border Service. Marching alongside them were cadets of the specialized
college named after Baurzhan Momyshuly, athletes of the Central Sports Club of
the Ministry of Defense, students of Secondary School No. 116, and
representatives of the “Bori” public foundation. Demonstrations by special
units of the National Security Committee and law enforcement agencies added
vividness to the program and left a strong impression on the audience.
In
addition, modern firefighting equipment and special-purpose vehicles were
presented to the audience. Motorcycle units, Toyota Hilux service vehicles,
rapid response vehicles, and emergency medical vehicles entered the square.
During the event, the history and achievements of the elite unit of the Armed
Forces of Kazakhstan – the Air Assault Forces established
in 2000 — were widely highlighted. The exhibition section featured service
animals and uniform samples, and the event concluded with a student combat
relay.
Such
meaningful and informative events deepen the significance of national holidays,
enhance patriotism among youth, and strengthen the country’s defense capacity.
Initiatives like this help cultivate patriotism in the younger generation and
contribute to the training of qualified personnel entrusted with national
security.
