“LIBRARY NIGHT” HELD

Today, Abai University hosted a cultural and educational event titled “Abai Night: Spirit and Thought in the Library.” The evening aimed to enhance students’ intellectual potential, presenting the library from a new perspective as a space for free creativity and expression. Moving beyond the traditional academic format and embracing modern creative approaches, the event once again highlighted the dynamic environment of the university.

The event was opened by Tolkyn Sagimbayeva, Chief Expert Manager of the library, who emphasized the importance of the librarian’s profession as a “spiritual beacon” guiding readers. She noted that the library is not merely a repository of information, but a space of national identity and intellectual culture. Following the opening ceremony, the program continued with intellectual and artistic segments. In the expressive reading contest “Abai’s Word is the Eye of the Heart,” students delivered heartfelt recitations of Abai’s timeless poetry, while the traditional kui performances by Alinur Kaysarbek and Beknur Orynbeк enriched the atmosphere and immersed the audience in the depth of national art.

During the event, special attention was given to the digitization of library collections and the effective use of modern information resources. Students explored access to international electronic databases and discussed research methodologies. Library specialists shared insights into the preservation of rare manuscripts and valuable artifacts, as well as offered practical advice for enhancing professional knowledge. In addition, interactive platforms such as “Dialogue with Abai” and the “Book Lottery” encouraged participants to demonstrate their knowledge and inspired them toward further intellectual pursuits.

Nurdaulet Sagimbek, a student of Abai University, contributed to the library by donating two of his authored books. The event provided not only an opportunity for learning, but also a platform for communication, exchange of ideas, and spiritual enrichment. Winners were awarded in the intellectual quiz as well as in the “Reader of the Year” and “Honorary Reader” nominations.

This initiative clearly demonstrated that the university is not only a place of education, but also a center for personal growth and cultural development. Where there is a passion for books, the value of science and knowledge always remains high.
