Today, the Faculty of Philology at Abai University hosted an open day for prospective students titled “Philology – A World of Opportunities.” School students were introduced to the educational programs in philology, the faculty’s scientific potential, and were given guidance on choosing their future careers.

The event was attended by students and teachers from several schools in Almaty city and the Almaty region, including Ili and Talgar districts. During the opening ceremony, Khairulla Nyshanuly, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, delivered a speech and shared insightful thoughts on the quality of education and the role of language and literature specialists in society. The event was moderated by Acting Dean of the Faculty of Philology Botagoz Tileubekova, Director of the Department for Academic Affairs Zhanna Zhussupova spoke about the university’s education system and opportunities for training future professionals.

During the meeting, participants received comprehensive information about the development trends in philology, academic programs, and opportunities available to students. Director of the Department of Career Guidance and Development Almas Naimanbayev explained the application process, details of academic programs, and the required passing scores for admission.

In addition, Doctor of Philology, Professor Gulbanu Kosymova introduced the university’s leading scholars and successful graduates, emphasizing the wide range of opportunities available to philology specialists.

Faculty department representatives also delivered presentations in various fields. Associate Professor of the Department of Kazakh Language Theory and Teaching Methodology Yersayin Moldasanov, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian Language and Literature Elena Lomova, and Senior Lecturer, PhD, of the Department of Kazakh Literature and Teaching Methodology named after Academician S. Kirabayev, Shokankhan Kuttybayev, spoke about the specifics of their disciplines and the educational process.

As part of the open day, students ознакомились with the university’s educational opportunities and received clear answers to their questions. Participants noted the importance of such meetings in choosing a profession.

It should be noted that this year, open days will be organized at each faculty of Abai University. The event will be held in a weekly format, with institutes and faculties opening their doors daily to school students, providing information about admission and answering applicants’ questions. The event will run from April 23 to April 30.
