Branch of the University of Lorraine at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University

The opening of the branch of the French University of Lorraine at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University is one of the most significant educational projects in recent years.

The launch of the branch was officially announced in November 2024 by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during his visit to France. The ceremonial opening took place on December 10, 2024, in Almaty, with the participation of the French Ambassador to Kazakhstan and a delegation from the University of Lorraine.

The branch offers a dual-degree program in the field of International Law, with a diploma recognized in France, Kazakhstan, and across Europe. In the future, the range of programs will be expanded. Instruction is conducted in Kazakh and Russian, with intensive French language study starting from the first year.

The co-directors of the branch are Doctor of Law, Professor Ainur Sabitova (Kazakhstan), and the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics, and Public Administration of the University of Lorraine, Doctor of Law, Professor Pierre Tiffin (France).

The branch is located at 28 Kazybek Bi Street, in a building that is an architectural monument of the 19th century, designed by the French architect Paul Gourdet.

The branch is not only about education but also an active student life: international conferences, lectures by French professors, meetings with diplomats, and participation in academic mobility programs. Graduates continue their studies in France or work in international companies (Danone, Total, Lactalis), as well as in government agencies in Kazakhstan and France.
