From January 5 to 16, 2026, Abai University is hosting the traditional Winter School – 2026 under the theme “Modernization of Pedagogical Education and the Development of Research Skills.” The event is organized as an important platform for professional development, bringing together the university’s faculty members from all departments, heads of departments, and academic supervisors.

The program is implemented in stages. From January 5 to 9, substantive sessions are held at the level of each institute and faculty, while from January 12 to 16, meetings focused on improving academic processes take place with the participation of the university’s vice-rectors and department heads. This format enables the renewal of educational program content, enhances the research potential of faculty members, and supports adaptation to contemporary requirements.

The key feature of the Winter School is the discussion of educational issues not only from a theoretical perspective but also from a practical one. During the event, approaches to completing diploma papers and projects by students of pedagogical programs are examined using the methods of Action Research and Lesson Study. These approaches are aimed at developing research-oriented thinking among future educators and forming decision-making skills in real educational settings.

In addition, modern approaches to updating the university’s academic processes, the internal quality assurance system, and digital transformation strategies are explored. Important session topics also include trends and challenges in the development of higher education in the era of artificial intelligence, the role of faculty in international rankings, and international experience with contemporary educational models.

Throughout the Winter School, faculty members learn how to apply educational innovations in practice and become familiar with effective methods for organizing research activities.
