“WINTER SCHOOL – 2026” SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDES
The traditional Winter School at Abai University has successfully come to an end. The final session focused on corruption prevention, improving international rankings and the quality of education, as well as enhancing the research potential of educators. On the last day, presentations were delivered to faculty members and staff on internal control mechanisms and the development of a culture of academic integrity.
Building a corruption-free society is the responsibility of every citizen. It is evident that preventing corruption in higher education is of particular importance. Within the framework of the principle of “Law and Order,” compliance with academic integrity standards remains a constant priority for the leadership of Abai University. In this regard, Kurmangazy Madiev, Head of the University’s Anti-Corruption Compliance Service, presented an analysis of internal control data highlighting the harmful impact of corruption on the quality of education in higher education institutions.
Aiman Berikhanova, Head of the UNESCO Chair and Director of the Center for Pedagogical Innovations and Action Research, emphasized that developing the research potential of future teachers is a core value of pedagogical education. She also addressed issues related to global innovative interventions and their implementation, outlining key objectives for the university.
In addition, Elvira Tattibayeva, Director of the Strategy Department, delivered a report on the impact of faculty scientific publications on international ranking indicators. In her speech, she discussed the methodology of global rankings and the analysis of their indicators, emphasizing the particular importance of faculty publications in international academic journals.
During the subsequent session,
Zhanna Zhussupova, Academic Secretary of the UMO-GUP, presented directions for
transforming the education system based on modern educational models and
advanced international best practices. Faculty deans, department heads, and
members of the teaching staff exchanged views on the issues raised.
“Winter School – 2026” successfully completed its work, defining key objectives for strengthening academic culture, improving the quality of education, and implementing Abai University’s strategic development goals. This traditionally held event can rightfully be considered a professional platform that enables the clarification of work plans and development priorities aimed at 2026.
