ABAI UNIVERSITY HOSTED DELEGATES FROM THE USA
Abai University held an official meeting with Alexei Pavlenko, a representative of Colorado and Middlebury Colleges (USA) and an Associate Professor of the Russian Department at the University of Colorado. During the event, the parties discussed strengthening international cooperation and expanding student exchange programs.
Aigul Iskakova, Vice-Rector for Strategy and Internationalization, introduced the distinguished guest to the university's history, its standing in world rankings, and its international projects. In her speech, the Vice-Rector highlighted the preparations for the university's 100th anniversary and emphasized the strategic importance of internationalization. She also praised the human resource potential and the academic excellence of the Russian Language Department, expressing confidence that collaborative efforts with American colleagues would be highly productive.
The focal point of the meeting was the upcoming visit of Colorado students to Central Asia, scheduled for autumn of this year. According to Alexei Pavlenko, the program for American students had previously been implemented in partnership with AUCA in Kyrgyzstan. Starting this year, the project aims to expand its scope to Kazakhstan. Specifically, the parties considered organizing a special autumn school for international students at Abai University. The meeting outlined the prerequisites for developing the curriculum and the cultural-educational program. Mr. Pavlenko expressed his gratitude for the university's hospitality and shared his optimism for the successful implementation of these joint plans.
During the session, Saule Abisheva, Head of the Department of Russian Language and Literature, reported on the department's history and current achievements. She touched upon student research activities, partnerships with schools, and the potential of "Bolashak" program graduates, offering specific proposals for further cooperation.
Additionally, Maksat Zhakau, Vice-Rector for Social Development, discussed the social welfare and cultural life of foreign students within the university. He noted that visiting students would have access to the same facilities and opportunities as local students, including comprehensive medical insurance.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to maintain close contact and work together to achieve their shared objectives.
