ABAI UNIVERSITY AND ASANALI ASHIMOV THEATRE ESTABLISH PARTNERSHIP

Today, Abai University and the Asanali Ashimov Theatre signed a memorandum of cooperation. The event was attended by Dulat Tokanov, Director of "Almaty Auenderi," and Saltanat Abulgazieva, Artistic Director of the theatre. Under this agreement, university students will have the opportunity to hone their creative skills under the guidance of professionals and engage in joint branding projects with the theatre company.

Maksat Zhakau, Vice-Rector for Social Development, introduced the guests to university life, highlighting the creative potential of the youth and the institution's cultural initiatives. He emphasized that the university places a high priority on establishing close ties with the city's major cultural hubs, museums, and theatres.

"As a university, we have never been distant from culture and art. From the moment our students cross the threshold of this institution, we provide every opportunity for them to continue developing the creative talents they nurtured in school, taking them to a professional level. Today, we have five student theatres and our own orchestra," the Vice-Rector stated.

Notably, this center of art, which brought together young talents from the workshop of the People's Artist of Kazakhstan, Asanali Ashimov, was originally founded in 2018 as the "Zhana Gasyr" Theatre. In April 2026, it was officially renamed after the legendary artist. Currently, the Asanali Ashimov Theatre performs Kazakh and world classics, seamlessly blending tradition with modern trends. Therefore, this collaboration holds immense value for the students.

Within the framework of the memorandum, both parties agreed to implement joint image-building projects and creative collaborations for the youth. Moving forward, theatre actors will conduct masterclasses for students, and professional performances will be staged within the university. Furthermore, future specialists will be able to participate in various cultural events, gaining practical experience in directing and project management.
