STUDENTS MET WITH FAMOUS SPORTS CHAMPIONS

Today, Abai University hosted a meeting with renowned national athletes titled "Strong Spirit – Powerful Nation." The event featured Olympic champion Bakhyt Sarsekbayev, Kazakhstan’s Greco-Roman wrestling champion Almat Kebispayev, and professional boxer Aidos Yerbossynuly. The champions shared their challenges and triumphs, inspiring the youth with their journeys in sports.
For the younger generation, the life paths of their predecessors serve as a school of experience. While the podium of success may seem glamorous from the outside, it is built on tireless work, iron discipline, and unwavering patience. The speakers emphasized the hidden difficulties of the path to victory and the paramount importance of spiritual resilience and perseverance. Students engaged in a sincere dialogue, asking questions that helped sharpen their own willpower.
Olympic boxing champion Bakhyt Sarsekbayev advised the students that everyone has a unique path and should strive for excellence in any chosen field. "Sport is an art where victory and defeat go hand in hand. The key is not to break. A person with true intent will conquer the heights they desire," he said, leaving a lasting impression on the young athletes.
Greco-Roman wrestling master Almat Kebispayev shared that the greatest lesson in sports is to remain humble in victory and resilient in defeat. Highlighting the importance of continuous learning and systematic training, he defined the true value of persistence.
At the end of the event, professional boxer Aidos Yerbossynuly performed a song on the dombra, adding a spiritual touch to the evening. Vice-Rector for Social Development Maksat Zhakau expressed gratitude to the guests, noting their significant contribution to the students' personal development.
"There is a saying: 'A single day spent with the wise is worth more than a lifetime of the foolish.' Today's meeting is a clear proof of that. You have shared your experience on the road to victory and breathed courage into the hearts of future champions," the Vice-Rector stated.
Notably, the Faculty of Physical Education and Initial Military Training at Abai University is home to many student-athletes. Last year alone, university students brought home 115 gold, 76 silver, and 75 bronze medals from national and international competitions. Today’s meeting provided a fresh boost of inspiration for these young competitors.
