A MASTER CLASS DEDICATED TO THE ART OF AITYS WAS HELD
Today at Abai University, a master class was conducted
by an outstanding representative of the art of aitys, a renowned poet and
mentor, a member of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan and the International
Union of Aitys Poets and Zhyrshy-Terme Performers, Daubai Mamytuly. The purpose of the
master class was to improve the aitys techniques of future artists, develop
their improvisational skills, and enhance stage culture and mastery of speech.
During today’s public lecture, Daubai Mamytuly shared
the intricacies of the art of aitys and presented meaningful insights on
developing improvisational performance and shaping stage culture. In
particular, he focused on the features of melodic modes (maqam), achieving
harmony between musical instruments and voice, maintaining confidence on stage,
as well as cultivating linguistic purity and speech culture. He also emphasized
the importance of preserving national identity during aitys, combining
tradition with modern requirements, and establishing a spiritual connection
with the audience.
“Aitys is the legacy of the people. When a poet steps
onto the stage, he speaks not only on his own behalf, but on behalf of his
people, his land, and his spirit. Therefore, an aitys poet must first and
foremost be honest in word, deep in thought, and pure in intention,” said Daubai Mamytuly.
At the end of the event, the head of the Orazaly
Dosbosynov Center for Young Poets, Aitugan Zhetebayev, presented Daubai
Mamytuly with a letter of appreciation on behalf of the Chairman of the Board —
Rector for the meaningful public master class.
Special guests at the educational meeting included
well-known journalist and poet Kenzhe Orazai, journalist and Mukagali studies
scholar Akhmet Eleusiz, as well as historian-ethnographer and literary scholar
Nurlan Sarsenbayev. They shared their views on the importance of aitys in
preserving national spirit, the power of the spoken word, and the continuity
between literature and journalism, offering valuable advice to students.
It should be noted that Daubai Mamytuly is a graduate
of the university, a distinguished master of aitys, and the mentor of the
passionate and eloquent poet Orazaly Dosbosynov. He knew Orazaly from
childhood, contributed to his creative development, and guided him toward the
big stage. He is also the mentor of well-known poets such as Zhumatai Ospanuly
and Bakyt Zhagypar.
Today, Daubai Mamytuly is an Honored Worker of Culture
and a recipient of the “Aktanger” scholarship. He continues to work tirelessly
to promote national art and instill spiritual values in the younger generation.
