MEETING WITH THE CONSULATE OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND TOOK PLACE

Today, Abai University hosted a meeting with the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Almaty, Dariusz Szewczyk, and Vice Consul Paweł Niedźwiecki. The event was aimed at developing bilateral cooperation and strengthening strategic ties in the field of education. During the meeting, the participants discussed the preparation of joint educational programs with higher education institutions of the Republic of Poland, as well as issues related to academic mobility.

Poland is not an unfamiliar country for us. Previously, more than 200 students of Abai University studied in the Republic of Poland under academic mobility programs. University scholars have been actively engaged in research activities, and two doctoral dissertations have been successfully defended. At today’s meeting, issues concerning the further development of partnership in the field of higher education were widely discussed. In particular, the possibility of developing double-degree educational programs in the fields of history of science and special pedagogy was considered.

The Bologna System has been implemented in the higher education system of our country since 2010. This system aims to improve the quality of education and ensure students’ right to receive education. During the meeting, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Abai University, Banu Narbekova, emphasized the effectiveness of the Bologna System. She also raised the issue of establishing a department for teaching the Polish language at the university. Highlighting the university’s mission to become a research university in the future, she stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation.

— In the near future, it is planned to develop a joint double-degree educational program with Poland in the field of special pedagogy. In addition, we intend to establish a Polish language center or department at our university in order to strengthen strategic ties in higher education. This will provide our students with ample opportunities to exchange experience and study at leading foreign universities, — said the Vice-Rector.

Consul General Dariusz Szewczyk, in turn, expressed his support for the initiatives of the higher education institution. He noted the strong interest on the part of the Republic of Poland in academic exchanges of teaching staff and professors and in their visits to our country.

— Several of our lecturers are currently in Kazakhstan as part of academic exchange programs. In this regard, I am pleased to support the new initiatives of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University aimed at expanding cooperation. I firmly believe that these projects will significantly contribute to the international-level training of qualified specialists, — said the Consul General.

The meeting will undoubtedly contribute to the launch of effective bilateral initiatives and the implementation of international strategic projects. Both sides agreed to expand cooperation in the fields of science and education and to develop joint programs. The participants expressed confidence that in the future Kazakh and Polish students will have opportunities to study new specialties through academic mobility programs.
