AN IMPORTANT MEMORANDUM SIGNED IN ASTANA
Within the framework of the 2nd
International Talent Summit held in Astana, a memorandum was signed to
establish a modern educational infrastructure in Kazakhstan based on the
“Sirius” model. This initiative is aimed at supporting gifted youth and developing
the country’s intellectual potential. The ceremonial event was attended by
Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Abai University, Banu Narbekova.
In December last year, the Sirius
Educational Center held a meeting with the leadership of Abai University, where
the parties agreed to implement joint projects. As a result, the university
will take a direct part in creating a modern educational infrastructure and
contribute to the scientific and human resource support of the center. In
particular, it is planned to train specialists for the international
educational center to be established in Almaty and Astana.
The 2nd International Talent
Summit is aimed at expanding strategic cooperation between Kazakhstan and
Russia, as well as launching new initiatives in the field of education. The
summit was attended by the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan,
Zhuldyz Suleimenova, international experts, and renowned scholars. Among them
was Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Abai University, Banu Narbekova,
representing the university, which actively collaborates with Sirius. Such
initiatives are expected to provide a new impetus to the development of
Kazakhstan’s education system, particularly in the field of information
technology.
The core value of Abai University
lies in its pedagogical expertise and experience in training specialists. On
this basis, the university will be able to develop dual-degree programs in
STEM+AI, create next-generation educational programs integrating artificial
intelligence into the teaching of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology,
and launch joint dual-degree master’s programs. It is also planned to form a
new model for training teachers focused on working with gifted children. In
particular, specialized teachers will be trained for the Sirius school with
instruction based on technological integration. Methodologies for pedagogical
support of students’ research projects will be developed, taking into account
the analysis of scientific and innovative activities. Additionally, joint
laboratories and research groups will be established at the university, with
research conducted in AI in Education, EdTech, and STEM Education. Overall,
Abai University is proposing a wide range of forward-looking initiatives.
Another key area will be the
development of new-format courses and teaching materials for educators, as well
as digital content creation. AI tools will be introduced into the teaching
process to enhance the qualifications of future professionals. This partnership
opens new opportunities for the university’s transformation: educational
programs will be updated, and a transition to an interdisciplinary and
research-oriented learning model is planned. This project will contribute to
the training of a new generation of teachers.
There is strong confidence that
the memorandum signed within the framework of the international summit will
give a new impetus to the development of pedagogical education in the country.
