In 2024, as part of supporting gifted students, the Joint Stock Company "Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University" approved the Regulation on the appointment of the Abai scholarship. The new program was initiated by the Chairman of the Board - Rector Bolat Tilep. More than 20 students took part in the first competition, according to the results of which the 10 best students became holders of the Abai scholarship. It is noteworthy that all ten first scholarship holders of the Abai program were later awarded the Presidential Scholarship.

This year, this initiative has found its continuation and, on the eve of the 180th anniversary of the birth of Abai Kunanbayev, it provides not only financial support to students, but also contributes to their academic growth.

On April 4, 2025, an independent commission selected among the 27 best students of the university applying for the scholarship. Based on the results of the competition, the Abai scholarship was awarded to 10 students who were distinguished by exceptionally excellent academic performance, as well as active participation in the scientific research and social life of the university.

The Abay scholarship is awarded for one academic period and is paid monthly.
