RESEARCH PRIORITIES PRESENTED AT THE SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL MEETING
Today, at the meeting of the Scientific Council of
Abai University, issues of modernizing academic activities and research
directions were comprehensively discussed. Strategic decisions aimed at
improving the quality of education and strengthening the university’s
scientific potential were adopted.
PhD diplomas and associate professor academic titles
were also awarded. PhD diplomas were presented to scholars who successfully
defended their dissertations in mathematics, chemistry, geography, defectology,
informatics, and history.
In addition, Aisulu Kaldaiakova, Head of the
Department of Music Education and Choreography, was awarded the academic title
of Associate Professor in the field of “Arts,” while Zhazira Bitibaeva, the
university’s Chief Scientific Secretary, received the title in the field of
“Education.”
Nurgul Imansydykova, Director of the Scientific
Library, was awarded a medal from the Association of University Libraries of
the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to the agenda, the topic “Current State and
Prospects of Scientific Journals” was discussed, and the development potential
of 16 scientific journals affiliated with the university was analyzed. Issues
such as aligning publications with the requirements of international databases
“Scopus” and “Web of Science,” increasing citation indices, and launching new
scientific journals were considered.
As part of defining the university’s strategic
development directions, new versions of educational programs for the 2026-2027
academic year were presented. Curricula for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral
levels, methods for calculating teaching workload, and new admission rules were
reviewed.
The academic community also supported the plan to open
a modern simultaneous interpretation laboratory at the Faculty of World
Languages.
The integration of artificial intelligence and VR
technologies into the educational process, along with the opening of
specialized classrooms equipped with virtual reality headsets, is expected to
elevate the university’s digital transformation to a new level.
Following the meeting, members of the Scientific
Council unanimously supported all agenda initiatives. At the end of the
session, a number of monographic works by author teams – aimed at promoting the
university’s scientific school and addressing current issues in pedagogical
education – were recommended for publication.
