FUTURE SPECIALISTS CONDUCTED AN OPEN LESSON FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS

Currently, fourth-year students are undertaking their teaching internship at school. The leadership of Abai University attended an open lesson delivered by this year’s graduates at a school. One of these was an open lesson on the topic “Architecture. Stylistic Features,” held in Grade 10 “B” at School-Gymnasium No. 168 named after Kassyl Katykbayev. The lesson was conducted as part of the teaching internship by Zhuldyz Orymbekova, a fourth-year student of the Faculty of Philology.

The lesson was attended by Vice-Rector for Social Development Maksat Zhakau, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board–Rector for Academic Affairs Khairulla Zhanbekov, and Head of the Career Center Rakhymberdy Zhetibay, who assessed the student’s professional readiness. The participation of the university leadership clearly demonstrated the institution’s systematic and effective efforts aimed at developing students’ pedagogical mastery.

The lesson went beyond traditional literary-theoretical analysis and was structured on the basis of interdisciplinary integration. Students analyzed architectural styles in connection with historical periods, cultural processes, and artistic movements. The tasks were designed to develop skills in comparison, analysis, argumentation, and the ability to express personal viewpoints in academic language. Each stage of the lesson included clearly defined learning objectives and assessment criteria, while the feedback segment enabled analysis of students’ learning outcomes.

The reinforcement of theoretical concepts through specific examples, the structural coherence of the lesson plan, and the future teacher’s effective time management reflected thorough preparation. During the lesson, methods and techniques aimed at increasing student engagement were applied; interactive elements and a question-and-answer format enhanced the dynamics of learning and strengthened students’ interest. Throughout the internship, the future specialist demonstrated professional competencies and further developed pedagogical skills.

During the lesson, members of the academic staff provided methodological support to help the young specialist independently plan the educational process and develop a sense of pedagogical responsibility. The results of the open lesson clearly showed the student’s ability to work confidently in a school environment and to adapt pedagogical actions to specific situations.

The continuity of theory and practice is the key guarantee of preparing a highly qualified and competent teacher. The young specialist’s professional stability and ability to make creative decisions are undeniable results of the university’s systematic and high-quality pedagogical work.
