THE TEN-DAY CHARITY CAMPAIGN HAS REACHED ITS CONCLUSION
The Decade of Kindness, held at Abai University under the slogan “The Energy of Kindness is an Eternal Trend!”, has officially concluded. As part of the closing ceremony of the large-scale ten-day project, a republican seminar titled “Volunteering: The Mission of Kindness is an Eternal Trend” was organized. Experts from the National Volunteer Front Office, representatives of partner universities, faculty members, and students took part in the meaningful event.
During the meeting, guests expressed their gratitude to Gulbakhira Shirinbayeva, the founder of the “Meiirim” Volunteer Club, for her dedicated efforts in developing the volunteer movement and conveyed their best wishes. Aktoty Akzholova, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology, emphasized that the university administration consistently supports volunteer initiatives. She noted that volunteer work requires great responsibility but represents a noble path filled with humanity and compassion, and expressed appreciation to the organization’s leader and active students. Aiman Berikkhanova, Head of the UNESCO Chair, connected the mission of kindness with Abai’s concept of the “Perfect Human” (“Tolyk Adam”), encouraging young people toward spiritual growth and active engagement in good deeds.
The special speaker of the event, Elena Amreyeva, expert of the National Volunteer Front Office, delivered an insightful presentation on current trends in the development of the volunteer movement and shared proposals for advancing volunteer activities in Kazakhstan. Zhazira Akimbayeva, a doctoral student at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, highlighted the importance of volunteering in society and its role in youth education.
The seminar also presented the results of the “Meiirim” Club’s activities during the decade. Charity initiatives began with a university fair and continued at city and regional social institutions. Notably, sports games were organized for people with disabilities at the “ERZI” Rehabilitation Center, humanitarian aid was provided to World War II veterans and elderly individuals living alone. Festive programs were arranged for children from orphanages and children with hearing impairments, assistance was provided to animal shelters and birds, and joint projects were implemented with “Karina Paper” company within the framework of the eco-campaign “Paperlife: Give Paper a Second Life!”
At the end of the decade, the most active participants who demonstrated outstanding results in community service were awarded. The project aims to strengthen young people’s civic responsibility and promote volunteering as a way of life. The mission of kindness will continue to remain an integral part of university life.
