Abai University Expresses Gratitude to Two Students for Heroism
Today, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay Banu Narbekova met the university students - brothers Nurasyl Alimtayev and Yernar Turgun, who saved their family members from a burning house and were awarded the medal "For Courage in a Fire". For their heroism, they were presented with a special Letter of Gratitude from the Chairman of the Board - Rector Bolat Tilep.
"The Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay expresses its sincere gratitude to you for the courage and heroism shown during the fire. Your quick and selfless actions made a huge contribution to saving the lives of others. Your assistance to the family affected by the fire testifies not only to your personal courage, but also to your high moral qualities and sense of responsibility. Your feat is a shining example for all of us!" Banu Narbekova said.
Recall that on March 2, a fire broke out in one of the residential buildings of the Zhetysu district of Almaty. Despite the thick smoke and flames, the students quickly called 112 and then carried people out of the burning building. A 64-year-old woman and girls aged 17 and 6 who were left without help were saved.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations particularly noted this heroic act and awarded the students with the medal "For Courage in a Fire".
It should be noted that Nurasyl Alimtayev, a 4th-year student of the Faculty of Arts, and Yernar Turgyn, a 3rd-year student of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, became a shining example of social responsibility and courage, risking their own lives.
