On April 7, 2025, a signing ceremony of a memorandum of cooperation was held between Abai University and the Almaty Weightlifting Federation public association of Almaty.

The event discussed current issues of establishing mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of higher and postgraduate education, science and culture, as well as improving the efficiency of educational, educational-methodical and research activities.

The ceremony was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Basic Military Training of Abai University Ernar Ospankulov, the Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Nurzhan Tulegenuly, the head coach of the Kazakhstan men's weightlifting team Dauren Bekmukhambetov, the President of the Almaty Weightlifting Federation Ziyadin Dzhambulat and the representative of the Federation in Almaty Mukhtar Zhailaubekov.

The purpose of the memorandum is to train highly qualified personnel with specialized education for the sphere of physical culture and sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, to deepen the integration of education, sports and science, and to strengthen the university's ties with mass sports.

The cooperation will facilitate the training of professional specialists on both sides.
